Following the successful rebranding, the formal renaming of the KNDS Group companies is now beginning. All changes are to be completed by the end of 2024.

The main drivers of the KNDS order intake of € 7.8 billion were the LEOPARD 2 A8 programs, additional orders as part of an existing infantry fighting vehicle program, orders for CAESAR artillery systems and an expanding demand for ammunition of all calibres. KNDS’s order backlog amounted to € 15.7 billion at the end of 2023.

Five years following the merger of KMW and Nexter under the joint holding KNDS, the Group’s governance structure has advanced into its next phase of integration and development. The shareholders have streamlined the organizational framework by establishing a Board of Directors comprising ten members. An executive committee - balanced in representation between France and Germany - has been established to support both the Board of Directors and the CEO in managing KNDS’s operations moving ahead. To steer the Group toward its strategic objectives and facilitate their execution, leadership leverages expertise from professionals across all specialized fields within the organization.

KNDS, the merger of the German and French land defense systems providers Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Nexter, is harmonizing its brand image. In future, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, Nexter and their subsidiaries will appear exclusively under the single brand KNDS.
The site of Roanne is preparing to take up a considerable challenge: to reach a production rate of 450 vehicles per year by 2025, which is three times more than today. To do this, Nexter launched the NextFab plan in 2018, an ambitious transformation and modernization plan, with an investment of 62 million euros over five years. The program foresees an adaptation of the industrial surfaces for: increase new production capacities, improve the industrial plan of prototypes and track testing activity, increase and industrialize the repair / MRO activity, increase tertiary staff capacities, address the growth of logistics activities.
On September 30, 2021, Czech Defense Minister Lubomír Metnar signed in Prague a contract for the acquisition of 52 CAESAR self-propelled artillery guns in an eight-wheel drive (8x8) version, in the presence of French Minister of Armed Forces Florence Parly and Nicolas Chamussy, CEO of Nexter. With this major order, the Czech Republic becomes the third European customer and the seventh user of the CAESAR in the world.
