Energy, Climate mitigation and adaptation
Alongside this work on Scope 1 and 2 emissions, KNDS is also actively working on refining its Scope 3 main categories calculation and decarbonization plan.

Climate change adaptation
As part of its climate risk assessment, the Group conducted, with the support of an external provider, a Group-wide initial exposure screening covering 63 buildings and installations, with in-depth assessment ongoing for ten sites identified as exposed. This screening covers a range of 19 different climate related hazards under two climate scenarios (SSP1-2.6 and SSP5-8.5) and considers historical, 2030 and 2050 horizons. The results are set out in the chart below and explained in further details in the ESG factbook.

Other environmental topics
At KNDS, environmental responsibility is an integral part of how we operate. Many of our activities are subject to a broad range of environmental laws, regulations and standards, and we are committed to meeting these requirements while continuously working to minimise our environmental footprint. In addition to our climate target outlined above, our environmental efforts focus in particular on the following key areas:
- Energy efficiency: Identifying effective solutions and meeting energy efficiency standards across our for existing buildings and facilities as well as integrating these considerations into the planning of new projects.
- Pollution: Complying with emission and immission control requirements to protect the protection of air, soil, and water, as well as noise pollution and ensuring the responsible use of chemicals and hazardous substances.
- Ecosystems: Safeguarding existing habitats, and biodiversity, in particular when planning and developing new projects.
- Circular economy: Promoting sustainability across the entire value chain — from responsible material ourcing and product design through to recycling orand responsible waste management.
