Medics’ most important tasks include the fastest possible rescue of wounded soldiers on the battlefield, first-aid for them, followed by suitable medical care. In doing so, they often risk their own lives under enemy fire.
Based on the DINGO 6x6 chassis, the ambulance vehicles are adapted to the respective customer’s requirements and reflect the various strategies for rescuing and caring for casualties. The ambulance vehicles and other members of the DINGO family have the same level of protection and mobility as comparable combat vehicles, both on difficult terrain and under adverse combat conditions.
In the new DINGO 3 6x6 ambulance version, up to two intensive care casualties can be transported in lying position and provided with medical care. In comparison with the 4x4 ambulance, the 6x6 offers a larger interior volume and higher payload, so that two medics will have room at each head end of the casualty, and more medical equipment and consumables can be carried.
The 6x6 ambulance is equipped with an innovative patient loading system. The loading system is compatible with standard NATO stretchers and stretchers from civilian rescue services. The patient loading systems are arranged so that the casualties can be loaded and unloaded in any order.
The first-aid room in the 6x6 ambulance is accessed through a large, double-winged door or as an option via a large rear ramp.
The DINGO 3 6x6 variant shown here has a large-capacity safety cell with a continuous driver and first-aid room. Depending on the purpose of use, other safety cell variants comparable to the DINGO 2 can be created.
The new DINGO 3 6x6 offers a significantly increased payload of up to 5 t.
The new drivetrain of the DINGO 3 6x6 with high-torque 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine, automatic transmission and automatic central tire inflation system significantly simplifies operation so that the driver can fully concentrate on important aspects of the mission.
Cooling performance has been improved enormously and offers sufficient reserves for extreme mission conditions. The electrical power has also been significantly increased in order to ensure sufficient power supply for future installation sets and equipment kits. Driving performance has been increased even further in comparison with the DINGO 2 HD, and the new instrument panel architecture has been adapted to the civilian Unimog.
The vehicle’s maximum permissible weight is 20 t. Based on a new Unimog chassis with a 6-cylinder engine of up to 260 kW and a fully automatic transmission, a great number of new, mission-specific variants can be configured while maintaining the established, internationally leading protection concept. At the same time, the logistics concept of the DINGO 3 6x6 is seamlessly adapted to the DINGO versions which have already been introduced. This provides the many user nations with continuous and cost-effective supply for their family of DINGO vehicles in the future.
The DINGO is known as the safest and best-protected wheeled vehicle of its class. Its innovative safety concept provides its occupants with the greatest possible protection from anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, IEDs, small arms and shrapnel from artillery and mortar shells. The DINGO also offers protection from NBC warfare agents as a standard feature.
In addition to its first-class protection and mobility features, the DINGO’s secret of success is based on its variable armament concept. It enables specific equipping for current as well as future mission profiles. Alongside an extensive selection of equipment options, the safety cell can also be adapted to the customer’s requirements. For instance, the cell of the patrol vehicle is made in different variants for up to eight occupants. The large-capacity cell has doors at the side and rear and is configured for a wide variety of equipment kits, such as command post, NBC reconnaissance or ambulance.
As a highly modern wheeled vehicle, the DINGO is not only ideally equipped for diverse mission profiles and extreme terrain conditions, but also for a long and cost-effective service life. It is based on a militarised Unimog chassis. This reduces training and instruction effort for drivers and mechanics. The low-maintenance, robust diesel engine is also an economic advantage. Furthermore, the KNDS Deutschland customer service offers worldwide vehicle service – even directly in the deployment zone – and assists in spare part supply. This ensures that vehicles will be at full performance capability at all times.
With the DINGO, KNDS Deutschland has developed an impressive response to the wide variety of threat scenarios worldwide. More than 1,200 high-performance all-protected carrier vehicles are already under contract for ten nations.
The ambulance vehicle can be configured with a double-winged rear door or a wide, electrically operated rear ramp.
The large-capacity cell of the ambulance vehicle offers protection for up to four crew members, two recumbent casualties and medical equipment for intensive casualty care.
The vehicle has a removable special signal system on the roof, with flashing lights on the front of the vehicle and a coverable red cross marking.
