From unmanaged to managed

KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics reacts flexibly to the customer’s requirements and offers ethernet switches in three different variants: From the unmanaged plug-and-play Layer 2 switch to the managed Layer 2+ switch to the managed Layer 3 switch. Ethernet switches from KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics support data rates from ten megabits up to high bandwidths of ten gigabits per second.

On-board voltage network

On-board voltage network KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics ensures smooth operation on the vehicle electrical system by applying VG96916 and MIL-STD-1275. This guarantees that ethernet switches harmonise with the power supply system, do not negatively influence the system or take damage themselves.

EMC

An aluminium housing and special design ensure EMC compatibility. KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics applies various civil norms and standards as well as MIL-SPECS for this purpose.

Ethernet switches - Central links in IT networks


The Layer-2 Ethernet switches from KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics combine low weight, compact dimensions and minimal power consumption. As unmanaged plug-and-play Layer-2 Fast or Gigabit switches, they are the simplest active network components, require no configuration and support all MAC address-based protocols specified in IEEE 802.3.

The Layer 2+ Gigabit switch version offers comprehensive control mechanisms for data distribution and bandwidth management. They are suitable for managing complex vehicle networks with many users. Configuration is web-based via a user interface. The switches increase security through virtual subnets (VLAN).

EMPORION switches provide high-speed networking capabilities of up to 10 Gigabit. This makes them suitable for vehicle networks that deliver high data loads with low latency. This guarantees fast data exchange for applications such as situation awareness, imaging and forwarding of sensor data. For data transmission, the switches provide a hardening that meets modern network security standards.

Backbone in networks with high security requirements

The high demands in the defence sector for robustness, availability and performance for applications with high data throughput require a corresponding solution.

EMPORION switches provide high-speed networking capabilities of up to 10 Gigabit. This makes them suitable for vehicle networks that deliver high data loads with low latency. This guarantees fast data exchange for applications such as situation awareness, imaging and forwarding of sensor data. For data transmission, the switches provide a hardening that meets modern network security standards.

To connect devices within the network, EMPORION switches provide copper-based and optical ports. Up to four wires can be routed to the outside per port. This enables a compact design that is ideal for vehicles with limited space.
