Systems keep out water and dust, withstand salt fog, hold up to fluctuating pressures and the extended temperature range, and reliably processes data under heavy shocks and vibrations.
Functional safety is an important property for complex IT systems and serves to minimise risk. The close interaction between the human as operator, the vehicle and the environment in the military field requires adherence to measures that absolutely guarantee correct functioning and limit any risks. For that reason, KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics does not have an isolated view of device developments for safety-oriented environments.
When designing and programming IT systems and applications, KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics prioritises the protection of the environment, the protection of the machine and, above all, the health of the operator. KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics handles this by applying the functional safety requirements according to DIN EN ISO 61508.
Safety systems at KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics cover the following fields of technology:
Systems keep out water and dust, withstand salt fog, hold up to fluctuating pressures and the extended temperature range, and reliably processes data under heavy shocks and vibrations.
KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics ensures smooth operation on the vehicle electrical system by applying VG96916 and MIL-STD-1275. This guarantees that systems harmonise with the power supply system, do not negatively influence the system or take damage themselves.
An aluminium housing and special design ensure EMC compatibility. KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics applies various civil norms and standards as well as MIL-SPECS for this purpose.
In accordance with DIN EN IEC 61508, inputs on the device are only executed when a separate system has determined that the display that led to the triggering event is correct.
The systems can be adapted to meet the customer’s requests and requirements in every respect, from the interfaces and memory to customer-specific functionalities.
The monitoring electronics specially developed by KNDS Deutschland Mission Electronics ensure that the VistaMaster-17S displays reliably up to SIL 3. Comparison with target values in a second computer system enables a safety-oriented reaction in case of deviation.
