The VBCI MK2 (or PHILOCTETES for the Greek version) platform is an improved version of the 8x8 infantry fighting vehicle already in service in the French army. The VBCI MK2 IFV integrates a 40mm remotely operated turret and an Akeron MP anti-tank missile pod. It covers a wide range of threats, from light vehicles up to main battle tanks, including self-defence capabilities against UAVs and light aircrafts.
VBCI MK2 constitutes the latest evolution of the combat-proven French Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
The only native IFV, VBCI has proven itself in numerous combat operations and become the main combat system of the French Army. The MK2 version takes advantage from the lessons learned from these engagements to offer major improvements.
Thanks to the 60° elevation site of the cannon and the new Anti-Aerial Air Burst ammunition, the RCT40 will be able to contribute to the Counter-UAV capability.
