Facts about the FLW 100
Modular configuration provides maximum flexibility
The FLW 100 remote-controlled light weapon station is a modular self-protection system enabling customer-specific configuration. KNDS Deutschland lightweight, gyro-stabilised weapon stations provide optimal reconnaissance and self-protection capabilities of the highest technological level. Developed and qualified in accordance with Bundeswehr specifications in compliance with the latest system safety requirements, the weapon stations have remained consistently dependable partners since their introduction with maximum availability under all conditions.
Simple adaptation that requires no roof opening and its low weight makes the FLW 100 usable for multiple functions on almost any type of vehicle and even in autonomous operation (e. g. site defence). For instance, the weapon station can be refitted from a main battle tank to a lightly armoured patrol vehicle within an extremely short amount of time.
The armament can also be changed quickly and reliably in calibres 5.56 and 7.62 mm. This enables the use of different weapon types (e. g. MG3, MG5, FN-MAG etc.) by means of specific weapon equipment kits. Automatic equipment kit detection and the operating software allow the armament to be changed within a few minutes.
Modular optronic sensor systems ensure optimal battlefield surveillance, target acquisition and engagement by day, night and under poor visibility. In addition to the high-resolution CCD colour camera with zoom, a powerful thermal imager (cooled or uncooled), an innovative combined night vision function and a laser range finder are part of the weapon stations’ modular surveillance, operating, and display concept.
The electrical and mechanical interfaces of the FLW 100 are identical to those of the FLW 200. This makes it possible to exchange weapon stations configured for various armaments.
The FLW100 is operated using a control and display unit and a one-handed controller. These control battlefield surveillance, system movements, firing as well as all other functions of the weapon station.
The electrical and mechanical interfaces of the FLW 100 are identical to those of the FLW 200. This makes it possible to exchange weapon stations configured for various armaments.
Automatic recognition of weapons, optronics modules and vehicle variants enables the weapon station system to be completely replaced within a few minutes.
The weapon stations function without the need to make an opening in the roof. This way, the vehicle retains its ballistic protection level.
Armament systems from KNDS Deutschland – a success story with over 50 years of competence and experience
For over 50 years, KNDS Deutschland has developed and produced efficient armament systems which enable vehicle crews to react appropriately to virtually any threat situation. Thousands of these modular systems are in use in a wide range of different wheeled and tracked vehicles worldwide. The integration of KNDS Deutschland armament systems means added safety for troops and vehicles and a significant improvement in freedom to act, especially in current mission scenarios.
In order to provide for the increased protection requirements, the German Bundeswehr equips all new armoured command and utility vehicles (GFF) with FLW 100 and 200 light or heavy weapon stations for self-protection. KNDS Deutschland succeeded in convincing the Bundeswehr of the superiority of the two modular weapon stations over products from its international competitors in a comparative trial.
