Facts about the MUNGO N/C Reconnaissance

The MUNGO N/C Reconnaissance is fully transportable by air.

The equipment of the MUNGO AC Spür includes the radiation scavenging equipment for A-reconnaissance, an early warning system with a flame spectrometer and a sensor bank for C-air reconnaissance, as well as a double wheel detector with automatic wheel changing device and another flame spectrometer for C-ground reconnaissance, the mass spectrometer MM including peripherals and inlet system, the marking equipment, the meteorological device and the sampling equipment.

Among other things, the MUNGO N/C Reconnaissance is equipped with a radiation detection device for N reconnaissance, an early warning system with a flame spectrometer and a sensor bank for C air reconnaissance as well as a double-wheel sampling system with automatic wheel changer and another flame spectrometer for C ground reconnaissance, the mass spectrometer MM including periphery and intake system, marking equipment, meteorological device and sample collection equipment.

The information and communication equipment includes HF and VHF radio sets as well as a data connection to the army command and information system. Furthermore, the vehicle has a GPS-supported vehicle navigation system and an IP-capable intercommunication system, including an external telephone.

An NBC protective ventilation system, air conditioning system and rear-view camera are also on hand.

The vehicle has a range of over 400 km on roads and can achieve a maximum speed of 90 km/h. It is capable of overcoming inclinations of up to 42 % and traversing hillsides with a pitch angle of up to 30 %.

The MUNGO N/C Reconnaissance has a ground clearance of 213 mm and can drive through bodies of water at depths down to 500 mm.

The crew consists of driver, commander and one recon soldier.

The use of armoured steel provides the vehicle with ballistic protection from small arms fire. The internal power pack and the use of run-flat rings in the tyres enable high remaining mobility.
